Candy Colored Challenge Inspiration
Welcome to the May Arts blog. The Ribbon Lady challenged us with a Candy Colored Inspiration photo and some yummy May Arts ribbon to match.
Who knows candy colors better than the Easter bunny? I decided to use the challenge ribbon allotment to create 3 projects that are quick and easy and that used up every bit of the ribbon.
First up is my thrifty Easter basket. I nearly fell over when I saw the prices of real wicker baskets so I headed to my local thrift store where I found this sweet little basket for under a $1.
A coat of paint and these May Arts Ribbons were all it took to take this dark basket to bright and happy.
Supply List:
- May Arts 1/8 inch Light Blue Velvet
- May Arts 1 inch Hot Pink Grosgrain Satin Edge
- May Arts 5/8 inch Orange Double Band Satin Grosgrain
- May Arts Yellow 5/8 inch Solid/Plaid
- Basket
- Optional- primer/paint
- Hot glue/glue gun
I gave it a coat of white primer and white spray paint, then wove the Candy Colored ribbons through the wicker and tied them in a simple square knot. I gathered the Hot Pink Grosgrain on the sewing machine then hot glued it to the basket prior to tying the knot.
I love the transformation from dark to bright and happy!
Next, I decided to wrap some plastic eggs filled with jelly beans and chocolate eggs and tie them up with the candy colored ribbons.
Who wouldn’t want to eat these eggs?
Supplies:
- Clear plastic egg carton
- May Arts Ribbons
- Stamps – Papertrey Ink
Finally, I used the very last of the ribbons to make a quick card to complete my little Easter gift.
- May Arts Ribbon
- Stamps – Rubbernecker Stamps
Thanks for visiting the May Arts blog! We hope we’ve inspired you today!
