DIY Ribbon Flower Kissing Ball
I’ve seen ‘kissing balls’ popping up- I’m not sure where the name comes from! My daughter & I started to make one with punched flower shapes, and it got me thinking that it would be pretty to make one with ribbon ‘flowers’! The supply list is pretty limited: sheer/wrinkled edge ribbon, a Styrofoam ball, straight pins, craft glue & a bit of satin for hanging.
Each ‘flower’ takes approximately 8” of ribbon. I roughly counted & I believe there are about 26 +/- flowers on my ball, so this project takes close to 6 yards of the sheer/wrinkled edge ribbon. After cutting several 8” lengths of ribbon, simply sew a running stitch down the center of the ribbon.
Next gather the ends, pull them tight & tie it off! First flower done!
Using straight pins to attach the flowers to the Styrofoam ball gives you a pretty center at the same time!
Start attaching! I started by spacing them evenly around the ball.
Once I was happy with my placement, making sure the ball was covered I pulled each flower out slightly and placed a small dab of Helmar’s Premium Craft Glue to secure them. I also added a length of 3/8” double faced satin to be able to hang the ball. I used a pin & craft glue for this as well.
Thank you for your time! I hope you’ve been inspired!
