DIY: A Sweet Snowman Gift Bag

It’s getting closer to that big day where gifts are given with holiday cheer, and why not make someone’s day by giving them a sweetly wrapped package that combines beautiful May Arts Ribbon with Lawn Fawn products? I’ve got a few quick tips and tricks to show you how to transform a plain paper bag lunch sack into a sweet snowman gift bag.

To start creating the tag as part of the focal point of the gift, I die cut some fun teal and aqua patterned paper from Lawn Fawn Fa-la-la Collection and created a sentiment from Critters in the Forest stamped on top of a banner.

I stamped the smaller snowman from Lawn Fawn’s Making Frosty Friends Stamp Set onto plain white cardstock, colored his nose with marker. The next step was to stamp the same snowman onto a piece of double sided adhesive. I adhered the trimmed adhesive over my stamped image and then covered it with glitter. The snowman was then trimmed out, but needed a bit of dressing up, before I could attach it to the tag.

The snowman needed a scarf! To make the snowman’s scarf, I unraveled about a foot of May Arts’ Baker’s Twine in Aqua, separating the colored thread from the white. I tied a few knots on both ends of the aqua string and wrapped it around the glittered snowman, and attached him to the tag.

I cut about a foot of May Art’s Faux Linen Ribbon in Aqua and wrapped this around the gift bag (be sure to include your gift inside the bag before you wrap it with the ribbon!). This ribbon is nice and wide at 1.5 inches and was a nice compliment to the kraft of the lunch bag. I cut another five inch length of ribbon and looped it three times and tucked this between the two ribbon ends that had been wrapped around the bag and secured all with a plain staple.

The tag was attached to the bag with a small clothespin (so the recipient has the option to use the tag on their own gift!).The final result of the package, I hope, will put a smile on someone’s face, and as an added bonus, and it was so easy and quick to make! May Arts offers has so many color options available in both the Faux Linen and Baker’s Twine that I think I’ll be making some more of these with the other patterns included in Lawn Fawn’s Fa-la-la Collection!

I love this idea.    I don't like wrapping presents.   I always say I'd like to just stick them in a paper bag and hand them out.    Now I can do that and not feel guilty.      Thanks.

What a wonderful creation — full of visual interest but easy to put together and repeat.  (Although I think I would probably have to skip cutting out double-sided adhesive.  I'm pretty sure that would end in a sticky frustrated mess.)
