FREEFORM CHOOSES MAY ARTS TO FEATURE IN NEW HOLIDAY COMPETITION

May Arts Wrap Battle TV Show Freeform

November 14, 2019

The popular holiday channel adds new gift wrap competition to lineup featuring small family business.

(GLENSIDE, Pennsylvania)– Ribbon supplier May Arts will get a national spotlight on new Freeform channel show airing this November. The small family business is hoping national attention will put a focus back on ribbon and unique gift giving, as well as bring more customers.

Freeform, a unit of Disney Media networks, is known for its annual holiday programming. The kickoff event, “25 Days of Christmas”, first debuted on the channel in 1996. Even though the channel has changed many names over the years, from “ABC Family” to current day “Freeform”, the holiday countdown has only soared in its popularity. This year, the holiday programming is expanding into November, with new and exciting movies and challenges. One of these new challenge shows includes a gift wrap competition called “Wrap Battle”. “Wrap Battle” will showcase nine contestants “in challenges ranging from creating the most over-the-top gift basket to wrapping some of the most outrageous objects,” according to Freeform.

Small family business, May Arts, will have their ribbon showcased throughout the six-episode competition series. May Arts is based in Pennsylvania, and sells thousands of different ribbons, lace, and trim through an online store. Ribbon will take center stage in making many of the challenges’ finished products. “When Freeform approached May Arts to be part of the show, we could think of no better partnership. We are ecstatic that gift wrap is being showcased to a nationwide audience. In today’s digital age, the art of gift wrap has dwindled. We hope this show encourages people to start flexing their creative muscles again. We support crafters and small businesses every day in their efforts to make custom gifts and decorations. Personalizing gift wrap also shows the recipient how much you care” said business development director, Nicole Sorgini-Donaghy.

Wrap Battle premiers Monday, November 25th at 9/8c. It will last for three weeks, airing two episodes back to back each Monday. Hosts Carson Kressley, Sheryl Underwood, and Wanda Wen will be joined by celebrity judges like Candy Spelling and Lala Kent. The winner of the series will get the opportunity to design their own custom holiday wrapping paper with Paper Source.

May Arts was founded in 1980. Philadelphia native, Joseph Duffey, acquired the company in 2008. With ten employees, including members from two family trees, the company has established a solid base of customers worldwide. Crafters and hobbyists, as well as small businesses and regional retailers can buy directly through their website www.mayarts.com. The business ships thousands of packages from their warehouse on Limekiln Pike every day.

“Christmas season is our busiest time of year. Ribbon has become a special artform for many, but during the holidays even people who only dabble in crafts or decorating know the importance of ribbon adding that special finishing touch,” said creative director, Elyse Duffey. The company is hoping national attention can give them the extra boost they need this holiday season.
