Home Decor Idea: Decorative Door Hanger
Hello Ribbon lovers! Emily Lanham here today with another fun DIY project for your home! I bought a pack of these wooden door hangers a while back and have made a few recently. After completing them, I always find them disappearing off of my desk and find them hanging on my daughter’s door. Finally, I decided to make her a door hanger of her own so she wouldn’t have to steal anymore off of my desk.
You can easily make one of these too! The cool part about this project- I used scraps! Like I said, you will need some of the wooden alterable door hangers. I found them at Wal-Mart, they were very inexpensive. You will also need some paper and ribbon. I had this 6×6 pad of paper left over from a banner that I made for my daughter last year, so I thought I would use it up and make the door hanger to match the banner.
First, glue some paper to the top of the door hanger and trim around it once it’s dry. Cut some strips of paper to fit the bottom, you can use a punch to give a ruffle effect. Layer these pieces starting at the bottom and work your way up.
When you get to the top, you can add some extra ruffle with some sheer/box pleat ribbon. I used the off-white and dyed it with some mists.
Add some embellishments to the top and then tie some ribbons to the side of the door knob spot.
There you have it! A quick & easy home decor project! These make great gifts too!
I added a frayed ribbon flower and a butterfly just to tie it all together.
I also added my daughter’s name with some little letter stickers. I thought the quote from the paper was cute, so I cut it out and popped it up with some dimensional dots.
Thanks for stopping by!
