DIY Designer Inspired Bag For Less
It’s beginning to heat up – which means it’s time for picnics and pool trips. And any well-dressed Ribbonista, needs to have the perfect straw tote for such occasions. Mine started out as an inexpensive and plain bag, but was quickly transformed into boutique cute with the right May Arts Ribbons.
Glue a wide strip of ribbon around the center of your bag. To make the flower, cut 18 pieces of wired ribbon, each 6” long. Fold each piece in half and stitch a seam across the bottom. Take a 4”circle of 6×6 Scor-tape, peel of the backing, and add 6 petals in a star formation around the outside of the circle. Take the next 6 petals, and place them in-between the first row, working towards the center. Do the same thing with the final 6 petals. Take an 18” length of blue satin ribbon, stitch a running stich through the center, and gather the ribbon to make the center of the flower. Peel off the other side of the Scor-tape, and attach to the bag.
