DIY Embellished Picture Frame

I adore my wedding photos, but hanging them up in a plain frame is kind of boring. I am an over-embellisher. I love lumpy, bumpy, pretty decor. I found this awesome clear frame and thought hey… why not add my photos on the outside along with some embellishments for dimension? Little did I know, it would work out perfectly!

Start out with a blank see-through frame. You can glue the glass into a regular frame, but clear back frames are available. This particular frame came with the holes and ribbon, it is a Sierra Pacific Crafts “Surfaces” item.

Mat your photos. I chose to double mat mine and add some stitching. Glue a piece of ribbon to your frame (I used Black Lace 390-58-10)and attach photos with mini paper clips.

Next, create some embellishments. I’m a huge fan of adding ribbon flowers (The frayed flowers are my favorite 393-25-01) along with handmade paper flowers. I almost always use the white flowers. That way I can mist them to match my projects. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the paper flowers. Soe are simply layered flowers, the others are the spiral die cut flowers that you roll and glue.

Add all of your flowers as well as other embellishments to your frame. I like to lay everything out before I glue it down. I tried to keep the same design in the upper corners and the same in the bottom corners. I also added some ribbon leaves (XL 31) to give a different texture next to the paper leaves that I made.
