Finding Inspiration: Ikat Print
Inspiration is everywhere and whether you’re a DIYer or a paper crafter we all are inspired by many things in many ways. Today I’m sharing a May Arts Ribbon card I was inspired to make from an awesome dress I just had to have.
I’ve been really into ikat print and when I saw this dress I could resist it. I’m not going to lie either, when I saw the salmon color on the dress the first thought I had was “That is the exact color of one of my favorite May Arts Ribbon”.
To make the card I simply layered strips of ribbon onto a paper panel. I wanted to capture the flow the dress had so I added a strip of two-way tape to the top and slightly over lapped the layers. Then I stamped the ikat pattern on top with a clear stamp and pigment ink.
I adore how this card came out. You can see that I drew inspiration from both the pattern and colors of the dress. So next time you’re in a craft funk look around you and you may find inspiration.
