DIY Holiday Decor: Pedestal Candle
Are you one of those people that starts looking months ahead of time to plan your holiday table setting? Sometimes, the best place to start is in your own cupboards. With a little ribbon, it is easy to transform a plain piece into a centerpiece with a wow factor.
I had this lovely hurricane vase that I actually bought, because I knew it would be easy to transform as I wanted. I placed a large pillar candle in the center, and filled the base with dry black beans ( you could use any type of bean, shaped pasta, or popcorn). This not only adds a decorative element, but also helps stabilize the candle.
I went through my favorite autumnal ribbons and decided on this 1 ½” Iridescent Striped ribbon, but since my vase was large, it seemed a little small. It was easy enough to wrap two widths of the ribbon next to each other, matching the two rust sides to each other. It completely made it look like a 3” patterned ribbon. For a more festive look, I added the Metallic Stars over the seam.
The hardest thing about this project, was trying to narrow down my ribbon choices, but that’s a pretty good problem to have!
