How To Make A Ruffled Umbrella
My sweet girl recently had a birthday. In looking for a theme we decided on Mary Poppins, as she IS practically perfect in every way! For one of the favors we ordered umbrellas from Oriental Trading & I got to work with May Arts ribbon to fancy them up!
I started with the 2.5” hot pink grosgrain. Using about 2.5 yards for each umbrella I ran them through my sewing machine with a basting stitch. Then I ruffled them! 🙂 I kept gathering & checking the overall length to be sure it would go around the circumference of the umbrella.
Here’s the contrast!
Once I had the length down I could use that for the next ones to get the same length quickly.
Now start hot-gluing. I may have some hot-glue scars from this portion.
To add to the fancy I covered the stitched area with the hot pink string beads
An umbrella was hung on each chair for the party! It was a super cute addition to the decorations, as well as a fun favor!
And the girls LOVED them! I’ve got a few more ribbon-fun things that I will be sharing from the party soon!
Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you’ve been inspired!
