DIY For Girls: Ribbon & Bead Necklace
I’m always so excited when shopping the May Arts catalog. It seems like I always find a new surprise or lovely ribbon that I may have looked over in the past… Did you know that May Arts has BEADS?! Emily here today with a really adorable necklace tutorial to share created with my favorite string beads that I have overlooked in the past just because they weren’t your typical “ribbon.”
First, gather your supplies. You will need some of the 4 millimeter string beads. I chose several different colors, but one color will work fine as well. You will also need some 3/8” grosgrain ribbon.
Cut 4 strands of string beads to 15”.
Hold the beads even together and wrap each set of ends with thread and tie securely.
Glue the ends with hot glue to a string of 3/8” grosgrain ribbon.
Your necklace should look like this.
Take a 2” piece of the grosgrain ribbon and wrap around the tops of the beads to hide where the beads meet the ribbon. Secure with hot glue.
Next, my absolute FAVORITE new tool…. The Bow It All! If you want to tie perfect bows every time, you MUST get this tool. So quick and easy!
Tie 2 small bows with the grosgrain ribbon.
Attach the bows with hot glue to the top of the ribbon on the necklace as shown.
Your necklace should look like this.
This is the perfect project to make with kids! Such a fun piece to play dress-up with, it’s inexpensive and you can make one to match every outfit!
