Make Your Own Halloween Embellishments
Hello, May Arts Friends! Virginia here with some easy creepy creature embellishments you can use on your Halloween cards, treats and décor projects.
Bats:
To create these googlie eyed bats I used HA10 black satin in 1.5” and 3/8” width.
For the Large bats I used a 10” length, and the small bats a 2.5” piece. **Cut ends on a diagonal.
*Note: Regardless of the length you use, subtract 1” from the cut length to determine finished length.
Tie a knot in the center of the ribbon, and square up the ‘good’ side.
Fold tip of ribbon to the center knot. Cut a half oval from the edge of the ribbon. Round tip of opposite side of the wing.
Using a lighter, singe the edges of the scallops to prevent fraying. Using a hot glue gun apply googlie eyes.
Spider:
To create this creepy crawly you will need a 2” length of HA10 1.5” and a 2.5” piece of HA10 3/8”.
Cut a piece of scrap paper 1” by ¾”. Cut 4 strips of craft wire 4” long. Bend wire into half circle shape, and hot glue at the center to paper.
Hot glue wider strip of ribbon to the long sides of the paper, hiding the edges underneath the body. Stuff the back of the spider with a pinch of batting. Hot glue front and back to underside of the spider.
Using the 3/8” ribbon, tie a knot in the centre. Glue the two loose ends to the belly of the spider leaving only the knot exposed (the head). Manipulate the wire legs to have the spider in the desired position.
