Mother’s Day Paper Bag Album
Welcome to the May Arts blog! We’re super excited to partner with Authentique this week to bring you some ideas for celebrating Mother’s Day. I took a little detour from the traditional sewn paper bags albums (you can find many tutorials online for this type of album) and created one using my Bind it All and the amazing papers from the Authentique Gathering line and May Arts Ribbons.
Authentique’s gorgeous double-sided papers, tags and letters make it easy to combine patterns for beautifully coordinated projects.
I decided to create a 5” x 5 ½” album with chipboard covers and paper bag pockets as the inside pages. I simply cut the paper bags in two, and used just the top section for my pages. I used a bit of strong tape to in the gusset to narrow the openings.
The cover features Authentique “flourish” paper and May Arts Crochet Velvet Ribbon. The word Authentique was actually cut from the logo on the page edge and sponged with a bit of brown ink for depth.
The inside cover features a tree I cut with a Memory Box die called Arboscello Tree. I thought it looked like a family tree…perfect for the word panels from the Authentique “noteables” selection. I love the proverb printed on the page edge so I cut it out and used it. It reads, “A family in harmony will prosper in everything.” A metal charm from my collection finishes the page.
The left page features lush May Arts Velvet Ribbon in Dark Brown. I pleated a scrap piece of May Arts Cotton Crochet Lace, a felt butterfly and a sweet little bird tag from Authentique “icons” for the right side page.
The tag on this page is Authentique “headlines”. Super simple! I just punched it out and added some of the May Arts Dark Brown velvet. A silver clip holds it in place.
Last, but not least a bit of zigzag stitching, a button and more Authentique “icons” tags finish the inside pages and back cover.
Now that you’ve seen the outside pages, here’s a peek at the pull outs hidden in each paper bag pocket. These are perfect places for Mom to add more special photos and mementos of special memories.
May Arts Burlap String in dark brown and natural tie up my buttons.
Thanks for joining us on the May Arts blog! I hope you’re inspired this week to start thinking of ways to craft your way into Mom’s heart this Mother’s Day with Authentique and May Arts Ribbon! Be sure to head over the Authentique blog to see what their team has created for your inspiration.
