Our Story

May Arts is also one of the few ribbon suppliers that produces original designs. We have a Creative Director and design team in-house that analyze design and material trends across industries to bring the right product to our customers.

It all started in 1980 with May Young, a Taiwanese bow maker and crafter based in Riverside Connecticut, who saw an opportunity to bring beautiful, high-quality ribbons to the craft market when her customers started asking her where she sourced her narrow woven ribbons. What began as a small operation fueled by passion and an eye for detail has grown into the industry standard for quality. May’s vision laid the foundation, and the Duffey family has continued to build on it for almost two decades, ensuring her legacy of quality and creativity lives on.

We’re a tight-knit crew that takes ribbon seriously. From the leadership team to the warehouse floor, everyone here brings their A-game every day. We’re family (literally) and we treat our customers like family too.

THE SQUAD

Joe & Brendan Duffey
Owners / Brothers

The driving force behind May Arts’ growth and innovation. These two brothers bring complementary skills in strategic planning, marketing, web development, graphic design, and project management to the table, steering the company with a balance of vision and execution. Joe and Bee have nine kids between them, and both live in Jenkinown, PA (yes, the town from the Goldbergs!). Aside from their collaboration owning and operating May Arts, they are both active board members and volunteers at JYA, the local youth sports organization, and they are in a band called Camera Thief, playing original music in venues across Southeastern PA and beyond. When they’re not working on the next big move for May Arts, they’re probably jamming with the warehouse guys, out lining soccer fields, or planning their next camping trip.

Elyse
Creative Curator / Cousin

Elyse is a mom of two! She’s our secret weapon. Elyse carefully curates the ribbons that set trends and make our collections stand out. With an artist’s eye and a fashion industry insider’s understanding of what the market craves, she’s constantly pushing the boundaries of what ribbon can be. Family gatherings? They double as creative brainstorming sessions.

Nicole
Sales Director

Our sales powerhouse who just welcomed her second baby into the world, Nicole knows how to connect with customers, solve problems, and close deals; all while juggling motherhood like a champ. She’s the voice our clients trust and the teammate we all rely on to find new ways to meet the needs of our customers.

Cat
Customer Service Rep

The calm, friendly voice on the other end of the line. Cat handles every inquiry with patience and expertise, turning potential headaches into problems solved. Cat also helps with social media, graphic design, web development, and product photography. Whether it’s tracking down an obscure ribbon or rushing a last-minute order, she’s got your back.

Rich
Controller / Administrator

The guy who keeps the gears turning behind the scenes. Rich manages the numbers, the systems, and the logistics that make sure everything runs smoothly. He’s the reason our warehouse stays stocked with ribbons so we can get your order shipped on time and our operation stays rock-solid.

Drew, Dom & Alex
The Warehouse Bros

The heart and soul of our operation. These three handle inventory, fulfillment, and shipping with efficiency and energy. When they’re not moving ribbon, you’ll find them skateboarding, having a catch, lifting weights, or cracking open a cold one while jamming in Joe and Brendan’s warehouse music studio. They bring the vibe that makes May Arts more than just a workplace, but a crew.
