Fun Christmas DIY: Ribbon Ornaments
I have a great budget-friendly gift idea that anyone can make! Ribbon ornaments!
My daughter’s school recently had a ‘Santa Workshop’ and I was asked if I could come up with a kid and budget friendly craft. Because I knew there are children from preschool to 5th grade that would be participating I put on my thinking cap. When I found the clear acrylic ornaments my search was over! You simply take the top off & add some ribbon. I had a toddler that was able to do it! And the great thing about them was they look really terrific! We did a variety of local sports teams’ colors, as well as some pretty holiday choices.
UW huskies used satin with horizontal stripes in violet and a sheer metallic in gold.
This was one of the holiday choices with metallic double band ribbon.
For the WSU cougar ornament we used the solid iridescent ribbon in gray/red.
The most popular ornament of the Santa workshop event was the Seattle Seahawks/ Seattle Sounders one! We used the satin with scalloped edge ribbon in parrot green and sheer with white stitched edge ribbon in navy. GO SEAHAWKS! 😀
For our traditional holiday colors we used the chevron stripes in green and the red metallic string ribbon.
Here you can see my little Santa’s helper demonstrating how simple it is to put the ribbon inside the ornament!
About a yard of ribbon was used in each ornament- so ½ yard of each when 2 colors were used- except for the red/green ornament. I used 1 ½ yard of the red, since it was so narrow. Most of the ribbons I chose were in the ½ to ¾” range, but you could definitely try any width! This is a great quick gift that could be personalized for anyone! May Arts’ selection of ribbons & colors is sure to give you all the options you need!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’ve been inspired!
