Thanksgiving Tablescape Ideas & a Giveaway {winners!}
Welcome to a very special Thanksgiving post!
The Ribbonistas and I were brainstorming on some projects for the upcoming holidays & we came up with a fun tablescape collaboration. The team collected the photos shown below for color inspiration:
Afterwards, each designer was assigned a different aspect to the tablescape – table runner, napkin rings, centerpiece, etc. Here is what we came up with!
But first, the giveaway! Because there always has to be a giveaway, no?
Two prizes of 2 spools each – winners choice! What do you have to do to enter to win? Simple! Just post a comment right here. 🙂
And now for some Thanksgiving inspiration.
Gini Williams Cagle – Centerpiece:
I’ve had a paper mache pumpkin sitting on my shelves for quite some time, and decided now was the perfect opportunity to spice it up. I began by spray painting the base orange. Next, I layered printed tissue paper over the entire pumpkin – adding some gold mist when I finished. The 5″ May Arts Tulle is perfect for wrapping around larger items – and I just used a couple of strips of it (in orange), and tied a festive bow with some of my favorite purple and gold ribbons. I added some flowers streaming down from the stem, and used the May Arts gold leaves for the “greenery”. The best thing about this centerpiece, is that I can use it year after year!
Jennifer Davey – Table Runner:
Burlap is the prefect backdrop to showcase May Arts silk and crochet ribbons. This burlap table runner features frayed edges and woven ribbon through crochet ribbon for the fabulous pop of color on your holiday table. This can be a simple beginner sewing project or can be accomplished with the right adhesive.
Come on over to my blog and get the details for making your holiday runner!
Karen Hanson – Place Cards:
One of my favorite things to do as a name card on a table setting is to include a little treat or gift for the guest to take home. For Thanksgiving, I thought it would be really fun to take use a chocolate bar wrap designed to look like a turkey, add a name, and use it for a fun place setting. These are incredibly easy to create – simply take your favorite bar, and wrap a piece of cardstock around and decorate! I used both the 1.5″ RR28 wired polka dot ribbon and the 3/4″ chevron twill ribbon to create the textured tail, and then had a bit of fun using the 1″ faux suede leaves for his wings (which I have to say were a hit with my two little gals – “so soft mommy”). Being Canadian, I was able to give these away back in October and they were a huge hit! While I am sure the ribbon was a big part of it, I think the chocolate bar might have played a roll too! Happy Thanksgiving!
Lalo IK – Menu:
When planning Thanksgivings dinner there are so many things to think about. Cooking and baking, decorating, where’s everyone sitting, all very important. But what makes a dinner party special (besides being surrounded by love ones) are all the little details. Details like how you present the menu. My part of the tablescape is the menu and here is a simple and elegant way to make it special.
Just print out your menu and back it on a burlap piece. Make a belly band with different fibers to hold it together. Here I used May Arts stretchy lace, gold leaves and baker’s twine. I also added a little recipe card of something off the menu for guest to take home. There you have an easy and elegant way to make Thanksgivings dinner extra special.
Mary Brockway – Candles:
I ALWAYS love a more homespun feel to my table, so for the candles, I’ve decorated a few canning jars in varying sizes. Burlap Wired Ribbon in a few colors layered together with Fall leaves and handmade ribbon flowers created using May Arts amazing Silk Ribbon, and we have a pretty little set of candle holders! Just add a bit of sand in the bottom for safely burning your candles or pick up a few of the flame-less variety like I plan to do.

Tracy McLennon – Napkin Rings:
I created my napkin rings, starting with a toilet paper roll and by just simply covering them and accenting them with stunning ribbon…you make ordinary into extraordinary!
