Make Your Own: Valentine Gift Box
Hello again! It’s Mandie from MandiesScrappin and I’ve got a fun and easy project for you. So I had several of these Kraft boxes that I’ve been “saving” for just the right occasion. Well, I decided that I wanted to create a beautiful gift box from one of them. Now, it’s only about 3 x 3 x 7.5 so it won’t hold a bottle of wine, but I’m thinking a sleeve of Girl Scout cookies would fit nicely inside.
To begin, I painted all of the edges of my box with matte black paint. While it was drying I cut all of my papers. I chose papers from the gorgeous Echo Park Paper “Be Mine” collection because I love the pink, black, gray and white color combination. Plus I knew I had some beautiful metallic silver ribbons I wanted to play with that would look fabulous with these papers. After I cut everything to size I inked the edges with black ink.
After I adhered the paper to my box I grabbed my Scor-Tape and added the ribbons around the box. I knew I had to use my Silver Metallic Velvet (377-38-31) and I wanted a big effect so I did 2 layers, one stacked on top of the other. Then to cover up that seam I used my Black Trimming/Ringlets (HY10). Then I decided I needed a handle and thought that the Silver Metallic Chain Cord (ST61) would look amazing! I simply punched a hole in either side of the box, added an eyelet for reinforcement and then threaded and knotted my cord. I added a bit of glue to the knot to keep it intact.
I decided that my box needed a little something else, so I made these flowers. I used the spiral flower technique and cut some with pinking shears, two with the scalloped scissors and hand cut waves in the largest one. I used a little water and Glimmer Mist to get them just right, and made a few leaves from some metallic silver cardstock.
Now I’ve got a beautiful box that is just right for any little gift! Although, I’m not sure I want to give it away… I’d better make a second one!
