A Wintertime Banner
Hi everyone! Emily here with a sweet wintery treat! Since it’s still technically winter… and we are still feeling it for sure here in Ohio, I figured it wasn’t too late to share this banner. Actually, I have it hanging in my craft room, so it’s pretty versatile and can be adjusted to a different theme if re-created. Spring is right around the corner, but this banner will brighten any room all year long!
I used one of my Spellbinders nesting dies to cut this sweet little banner from chipboard that I had laying around. You can also use cereal boxes, these work really nicely as a base and it’s a great way to recycle! After cutting the base, I then cut out my shapes from paper. If you look closely, I used some Halloween paper in there as well. This project is also a good way to combine different themed papers that you may have left over from the holidays. I layered some wintery themed paper on top that I had cut with the nested die. Using pop dots will give a nice dimensional look to your banner.
You can’t really see in the pics, but I punched holes in the sides of my shapes and attached a couple of jump rings to link them together. You can find jump rings in your local craft store in the jewelry section.
Next, the fun part! Once your banner is assembled, it’s time to embellish! I added some letters and a chipboard word that I have been hoarding for a while. I played with my inks and paints until I got the desired look that I wanted on these. I also added some flowers and little kraft snowflakes to fill up some space.
Last, add lots of yummy ribbons! I LOVE May Arts Mini Pom Poms. They are one of my new favorites for trimming the bottoms of tags and banners. When layering them on top of other ribbons, they give a nice dimensional look to your projects.
Tie off some ribbons onto your jump rings. I used 3 different ribbons for this one, but you can use more or less depending on how many rings you use.
Thanks for stopping by today!
