DIY: A Spring Themed Accordion Card
Hello everyone! Shelly here with fun card project for you!
One of my goals this year was to do more letter writing so I came up with this Spring Themed Greeting Card that I’ll be sending out to some special friends, just in time to welcome Spring!
The fun part of this greeting card is that it is not your typical single card in an envelope. Instead, I opted to create an accordion fold card with five sections.
Here’s what you’ll need to create a card like this for yourself:
- Five Envelopes—any size and color square envelope will work, but you’ll need to use an odd number so card folds correctly
- Four pieces of white shimmer cardstock sized to fit inside your envelopes. I used shimmer paper to give my inserts some punch.
- May Arts Ribbons: DH10, XE97, EN22, KB17
- Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro Adhesive
- Embellishments of your choice
Step 1: Using your adhesive tape, adhere the envelopes together by placing adhesive on the inside of the flap of one envelope and adhere it to the front of the next envelope. Continue until all of your envelopes are connected.
Step 2: Fold the pages accordion style, making the pointed flap of the first envelope the cover of your card.
Step 3: Add a ribbon closure. Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to go around your card when the card is collapsed. Cut a small opening the width of the ribbon on both sides of the last envelope and run the ribbon through.
Step 4: Create and embellish your card inserts any way you choose. Since my card has a spring theme my inserts all reflect that…
Insert # 1—A handwritten personal note
Insert # 2—A packet of flower seeds
Insert # 3—A favorite Spring recipe
Insert # 4—A handmade gift tag as a little treat
Insert # 5—A second packet of flower seeds
Now, just put your inserts into the envelope, fold it all together and tie your card up!
So, what are you waiting for? Spring is the perfect season to surprise someone you love with a handmade card!
