DIY Love Letter Sign
Need to fill an extra spot on your wall but not sure what to do with it? Make an easy “LOVE” sign you can hang from wall pegs or a coat rack.
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Your favorite May Arts Ribbon! We used the red double face satin ribbon, ivory and red striped grosgrain ribbon, farmhouse ticking stripe ribbon, and the red and white gingham ribbon. Watermelon silk ribbon was used as the “hangers” for the letters
- Â Scrap pieces of carboard
- a marker
- scissors
- tape or hot glue
Trace or draw the letters for your sign.
Once you have sketched or traced out all of the letters. Cut them out and arrange them. Putting them in a row will help you visualize the colors you want to use.
Once done start by taping or gluing the end of your ribbon to the back of the letter. Then, start wrapping the ribbon around the letter, slightly overlapping as you go. There may be certain angles or edges of the letters that will require you to cut small pieces of ribbon to tape or glue in order to get the ribbon to lay correctly. Once fully wrapped, take the 1/4″ silk watermelon ribbon and cut two equal lengths. Tape to the back of the letter and bring them together at the other end to tie a bow. This is how you will hang your letters. Embellish with rhinestones or in this case a heart from our satin cutout line.
Repeat this step on each letter until done. We chose to mix and match the ribbon patterns for a more shabby chic look.
Hang with bride on a blank wall that needs an extra special touch, in a kids room or nursery, in a classroom or from an empty coat rack. An easy low budget way to create custom DIY home décor.
