Welcome to our Fall/Winter 2014 New Release Blog Week!

New ribbons. My favorite time of year is when we get new ribbons in stock!  New textures, new colors & best of all – new inspiration!   We are so excited about our new releases, that we are featuring projects using these beauties all week long!   Each day this week the talented Ribbonistas will be inspiring you to create with our newest ribbons!

Now, we did things a little different this week.  Each Ribbonista has been assigned one new series to play with.  And their challenge was to create different ways to use the same ribbon.  And these fabulous ladies were certainly up for a fun challenge, as you will see.  🙂

Of course we need a prize, don’t we?

Here’s the giveaway:

3 prizes of 1 spool each from our new releases.  That’s 3 chances to win!

And now…on to the hop!  I hope you’re ready for another healthy dose of ribbony inspiration.  To start we have:

Charlene Driggs

I was so excited to be able to play with May Arts new Nautical Satin Cut Outs designed by student, Helga Gardner in a design collaboration with the Moore College of Art & Design.  I wanted to showcase the many ways these fun ribbons can be used simply by changing your choice of adhesives for paper, fabric or glass.  Full details can be found on my blog.

Nautical Ribbon Projects

Valerie Gee

Hi Everyone, it’s Valerie, and I was so lucky to get to play with the new metallic stars series, with silver and gold puffy stars!  I had a great time cutting them up, inking them up, and stringing them up.  I really enjoyed the versatility of this ribbon, and can see it being used in paper crafting, sewing, home décor, and even projects with and for my kiddos!  I made three different projects to get those creative juices flowing.

 'Reach For the Stars' Mobile

First, I made a mobile/hanging room inspiration, that says “reach for the stars.”  I cut apart, and then strung the stars on thread, and then hung the whole thing from a large star topper, making a dangling sea of stars!  I only wish the picture could do it justice.

 Children's Chore Chart

The second project I made was a chore chart for my kiddos!  Again, I cut apart the stars, but this time I hot glued a small magnet onto the back, so my girls can move the stars around on a magnetic white board to show which of their daily chores they have finished.

Using Star Cutouts as a Mask

Lastly, I got seriously inky and had lots of fun misting, inking, and coloring on these stars.  My final project ended up being a pretty clean and simple card, where I laid the star ribbon diagonally across my card front, spritzed a couple different colors of the Dylusions Ink Sprays, and created a great starry background for my popped gold star and white embossed sentiment.  This card came together quickly, and now I have stars that have been dyed blue and purple and I can’t wait to use them on another project!

DeeDee Catron

I was given the superbly new sort of rustic Herringbone pattern ribbon in black, brown and red. I chose to first do a little bow tie for a long sleeved onesie. The brown Herringbone has been twisted into a bow, and secured with a snip of the red Herringbone. Second I used the black Herringbone as a square of OOMPH on a card. It’s been diecut with a heart, and the sentiment was written inside, then adorned with a flower, some enamel dots and an arrow. The third project is a strip of the red Herringbone, and it’s only been altered by removing the wire from the border, and giving it snaps. It seems simple, but I wrap it around my wrist underneath a few other bracelets and it. is. AWESOME!
