How to: Repurposing Holiday Ribbon; Fruity Hearts

Fruity Hearts - Repurposing Holiday Ribbon

Usually after any holiday, I have an abundance of holiday themed ribbon that waits one whole year before it finds its way into a new project. This year, I decided to find a creative way to use May Arts 1.5” Adhesive Sequin Hearts outside of a Valentine’s Day themed project! Bring on spring and the yummy, flavorful fruit!

Fruity Hearts - Repurposing Holiday Ribbon

My first project features the May Arts Adhesive Sequin Heart in Hot Pink (A478-15-23), transformed into a sweet strawberry with the help of a few carefully placed May Arts Leaves Ribbon in Olive (BY16). I adhered the strawberry to a card based that had been stamped with a matching, sweet little greeting.

I transformed the May Arts Adhesive Sequin Heart in shiny Red (A-478-15-14) into an apple! I tucked under the bottom, pointy part of the heart underneath itself to create a flattened base of the apple. I finished the apple with a stem made from 1 mm Waxed Cord in Brown (451-33 ) and another silk cut out leaf.

This apple made its way onto the front of a gift card holder that had been stamped with a perfect greeting for a teacher. My son can’t wait to give this to his teacher at the end of the year as a thank you for her excellent abilities!

I hope you are inspired to take another look at your holiday themed ribbon or trim and find useful ways to repurpose them! The May Arts Website does a wonderful job in offering suggestions for holiday themed ribbon.
