Make Your Own Halloween Peep Favors

Welcome back to the May Arts Blog!  Fall is upon us and that means it’s time for fun treats. I have an idea that would be perfect for a teacher gift, party table centerpieces or just as a festive (and yummy) decorative accent.  The best part is that it takes very little time and money to make a big impact.

Ghost Peeps on a stick!

  1. Run a line of Scor-Tape around about 1 inch from the lip of the metal tin.  Run another strip around the base.
  2. Cut the Webbed Weave ribbon two times the diameter of your tin.   Use needle and thread to run a gather stitch along the center of the ribbon.  Gather to fit the tin, and then knot the thread.  Attach the ribbon to the tin.  Run another strip of Scor-Tape along the gather.
  3. Cut the Mini Pom-Pom ribbon to fit around the center of the Webbed Weave and around the base of the tin. Attach to the Scor-Tape.

  1. Cut a piece of Styrofoam to fill about ½ of the tin.  Hot Glue into place.
  2. Die cut the little stamp.  Stamp. Tie onto tin with Burlap String.
  3. Cut wooden skewers to the desired length.  Skewer the Peeps.  Cover with lollipop bags.  Tie with May Arts Ribbons.

  1. Fill the tin with a length of Webbed Weave.  Insert Peeps.

I found the little wooden coffin in the $1 spot at my local crafts store.

I gave it a coat of Gesso, and then a couple of coats of black acrylic paint.  May Arts sparkly Metallic Velvet was applied with Scor-Tape then some playful little May Arts Satin Cutout Ghosts were attached with glue dots to guard the cache of candy corn hidden inside.

I had a few extra satin ghosts so they were dispatched to add some spooky fun on a card.
