Operation Write Home: Memorial Day Blog Hop and a giveaway {winner!}
May Arts Ribbon is proud to support our nation’s deployed heroes through Operation Write Home®! This organization has sent over one million cards overseas so our service members can keep in touch with their loved ones while they’re away. I am so honored to be able to participate in the Operation Write Home Blog Hop. Our military men and women are far from home without the daily love and support of their loved ones. OWH gives them a way to stay in touch. Thanks OWH and May Arts for giving us a way to be encouragers to our brave men and women in the military.
This hop means something extra special to me this year as my best friend is being deployed on Monday to the middle east. She is a single mom and has to leave her two children behind here in the states. She is a doctor in the Air Force and will be taking care of our soldiers but is also a pilot – which is rare in the military. I have already created some cards for her to send back to her children and I will be adding this one to the bunch so she can send it home. I cannot wait for her safe return.
I support our troops for the simple fact that they support me by dedicating their time, energy, and precious moments to protecting a land where I get to be whatever I want to be. Making a few extra cards here and there gives me the opportunity to help them stay in touch and not be lost.
I don’t take our freedom for granted. Ever. Our troops and their families sacrifice so much so that our country remains strong & free. Donating cards to OWH so that those families can still feel connected is a joy!

Sometimes a simple card means so much more then the catchy saying written and the picture on the front. A card from a loved one far away is like that warm hug you can’t have, that “I love you” you can’t hear everyday. It is an honor to give back to these heroes, even through the smallest gesture such as a handmade card. And because they are missed by their loved ones every day, this “I miss you” card will hopefully brighten a heroes day! My gratitude is immeasurable…thank you for your service!
This fun card for Operation Write Home started with the starry background and grew from there! I love how the stitched edge really sets off the dark night sky, and thanks to a little trick, my yellow thread perfectly matches my May Arts bakers twine. Click Here for more details!
I created my card using some subtle patterned paper and let the satin cut out stars do all the talking. I love that you can cut these apart so perfectly. I used sketch #165 as a base design on my card and jazzed it up with May Arts goodness. Click Here for details!
