Charlene Driggs:

Gift Bag Redo

The Ribbon Lady said these colors were gorgeous and she was right!  For me, a gift is all about the packaging.  These beautiful May Arts Ribbons transformed a plain white gift bag into a pretty present that may be appreciated more than the gift itself.

Retro Inspired Party Hat

Retro Inspired Party Hat

The Ribbon Lady has really outdone herself with this challenge, I think I say it each and every time but WOWZA >>> she always puts together ribbons I’d never think to pair.  This time she’s gone with some nice vintage corals, orange, mint and pink. And I’ve put the ribbons together to create one of those retro party hats with a huge pouf at the top!  What’s so great about this hat is how quick and easy it is. Just using a few tips and tricks we all already know, but layering them together, allows us to create a super cool center of attention piece.

This one comes with a video!

Retro Inspired Canvas

I LOVE these ribbons. I can’t really express how much I do…. It’s kind of like a Spring sorbet and I just want to eat them all up! Ok, not really… but you get the point! I tried to keep with the “Retro” theme so I used some of my older stickers and paper from Authentique’s “Delightful” collection (which matches this ribbon perfectly if I might add!). I made this little 4×4 canvas to hang in my office, but it would also make a great gift!

Retro Inspired Mini Album

I was absolutely smitten when I saw the ribbons for this month’s challenge – and then when I saw the inspiration photos, I knew that I wanted to use the Kaisercraft Retro Camper Mini Album. The pages of the book were covered with Graphic 45’s Botanical Tea patterned paper, and the front frame page was painted and then embellished with the yummy ribbons.  And of course, the ribbons were a fun way to cover the rings of the album.  I added a handmade flower to finish off the cover.

Jenifer Cowles:

Spring Mini Album

The wonderful soft colors of the Retro Challenge ribbons just screamed Spring to me so I created this little Mini Album.  With the soft colors of the ribbon, vellum and some fun light stamping made this little mini come together pretty quickly.  If you would like to see the rest of the pages stop by my blog and check them out.

Shabby Chic Card - 'Because I Care'

And off we go….Jennifer here with my debut project ever so slightly nervous that I won’t measure up to all the nice things that were said on my Prima Ribbonista announcement.  I am super excited that the Ribbon Lady invited me to “come out and play”. I jumped right in with the Retro Challenge because I just couldn’t resist these color. These colors called out for shabby chic so I obliged. Layering the fabulous Retro Challenge ribbons on a tattered scrap of gathered organdy. A few embellishments and a sentiment and we are all ready for a recipient.
What do the Retro Challenge ribbons say to you? What will you make?

Dress Up Your Manicure Kit

Card - 'Stay Beautiful'

When I saw these retro-inspired mix of ribbons, I knew they’d be perfect for layering! I took advantage of the pastel color palette and variety of textures to dress up a manicure kit and made a coordinating card to present with the gift. (Did you know that sequins are still popular in the card-making industry, so I disassembled one of the ribbons and adhered the sequins with glue…how fun and what a way to stretch your supplies!)

'Welcome Spring' Banner Wreath

'Welcome Spring' Banner Wreath

Create a fun carrot banner to welcome Spring!  Take sheets of rectangular scalloped chipboard and cut them into a triangle shape.  Leave the top of the scalloped edge intact and paint with lime green paint.  Run the chipboard pieces through your Xyron Creative Station and then apply the strips of orange ribbon over the adhesive.  Wrap the excess ribbon around to the back of the chipboard and adhere with fabric glue or a strong adhesive tape.  Tie the carrot banners together with ribbon and embellish as desired!
