Tutorial: Rhinestone Sparkle Cards
It seems like everybody could use a little sparkle in their life, especially when it arrives on a thoughtful handmade card. I just adore the line of rhinestone trim that May Arts Ribbon carries, and they are perfect to use on cards! I’ve got two different clean and simple cards today that feature the Diamond Chain, series 469.
The first card is one to give to your honey, perfect for Valentine’s Day or an anniversary, or just because! It could also be given to a couple for their special occasion as well. I die cut a heart out of double-sided adhesive and lined the heart with the red rhinestones from the Diamond Chain, 469-03-01. This was easy to do because the metal connecting the rhinestones on the trim is strong, but thin enough to cut with regular scissors. I trimmed off any excess rhinestones to match the heart shape. I stamped the sentiment and finished the card by rounding the corners and tying a double bow with the luscious May Arts Black Silk Ribbon in 1.25” and 1/8” (SK10 and SK10 respectively).
My next card features the clear rhinestones (469-03-01). For this card I stamped the sentiment at an angle and then layered two rows of the rhinestones at the same angle, adhered to the card with double-stick adhesive tape. I then left a bit of space and adhered another two rows of the rhinestones. To finish the card, I tied a double bow of black May Arts Silk Ribbon in 1/8”.
I really enjoyed using the rhinestones on cards, they are so easy to work with and provide just the right amount of elegance and simplicity! The series also offers a black rhinestone, which would work wonderfully for masculine cards or chic designs (possibly with the red silk?!).
