Georgette Silk is a term used when fabric is semi-transparent with a grainy surface due to the high twist per inch of the warp and weft threads. The twist in the yarns gives the fabric a natural bounce and movement. It is also characterized by being lightweight. This type of fabric is originally named after the French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante. Georgette Silk is more transparent than the crepe chiffon silk, it also has less of a natural sheen. Silk ribbons are hand wash only in cold water with a mild detergent and no chemicals.
