DIY: St Patrick’s Day Treats – Rainbow Candy Favors
Hi everyone! It’s Karen from ScrappyCanuck Studios, and today I am sharing a little bit of St. Patrick’s Day love with you!
Now, I have to admit that I don’t think there is much Irish in me at all, but that is no reason to shy away from all of the fun and spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. While this day does make me think of green beer, it also makes me think of green in general, luck, leprechauns, pots of gold, and even the patron saint of the church that I attend. Now those are all things worth celebrating, don’t you think? 🙂
So I decided to have a little fun and create a favour that I can give to my little family (along with their annual bowl of Lucky Charms – can you say “sugar rush”). I wanted to create a little rainbow tube with a golden surprise at the bottom, topped up with the prettiest green ribbon and burlap string you could imagine!
Okay, now green is not usually a “go to” color for me, but this 1/2 Inch Grosgrain Variegated Stripes Ribbon (TG16 – GREEN/OLIVE/PG) makes me want to create in green all the time. It’s bright and playful, but the touch of olive adds a refinement to the ribbon – I can see it on all sorts of spring projects. I used the burlap string to add some texture, and I love the way it blends in with the other ribbon. I really need to get some of this in other colors!
The sentiment tags were just created in a word processing program on my computer, and I actually had my little girls help me sort the colors or the candies. It was actually a fun way to get them involved in the project, while still keeping it a surprise!
Whether you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or not, I think these little favors would add a smile to the face of the special people in your life. Thanks for stopping by!
