Valentine’s Day Craft Ideas – Shabby Chic Garland
When it comes to Valentine’s Day, we all try to find little ways we can add that zest of romance to our lives. An easy Valentine’s Day craft for custom home décor is to make a DIY garland or banner. Imagine a heart banner hanging on your fireplace mantle. Or imagine at your child’s desk at school for when they exchange valentines. Thanks to our “DIY Paper Banner” you can personalize and customize your own garland, the only limit is your creativity.
Supplies you’ll need:
- May Arts DIY Paper Banner
- Your favorite May Arts ribbon! We used a mix of silk crepe chiffon ribbon, polka dot grosgrain ribbon, pom pom trim, vintage frayed cotton and adhesive gingham heart ribbon
- A hot glue gun
First, prepare your work space! Lay out the plain paper banner and ribbon to get a feel of how you want to pair everything together!
Then, cut out strips of the adhesive gingham hearts to be the border for each of the triangle pieces of the paper garland.
Once the adhesive ribbon is applied to the paper garland, cut out hearts from the 2.5″ vintage frayed cotton ribbon. Place these in the center of each flag.
After the hearts are glued to the center of each flag, take the pom pom trim and cut to border the top of each flag. Hot glue the pom pom trim to the top of each flag.
Next, cut strips of ribbon to cover the string between each garland flag. Do a simple tie to attach to the string.
How cute is this!? It is such a fun and easy project and we can see this staying up from Valentine’s Day to Easter!
