How To: Mixed Media Canvas

Supplies:

  • Stampendous Jumbo Tulip Stamp
  • May Arts Ribbon: 395-18-33; WP14; 390-58-09; 393-25-01
  • Canvas (size up to you)
  • Variety of papers, tissue paper, acrylic paints, inks, watercolors and markers
  • Gesso
  • Gel Medium
  • Washi tape
  • Punchinella
  • Molding paste Stazon Ink

Instructions:

After preparing your canvas with a layer of gesso… It’s all up to you to create!  I put layers of assorted papers on the canvas and covered with more gesso, dried.

Then it’s on to creating with lots of layers of paint, ink, stains and markers. Once happy with your background stamp your image using Stazon ink. You can then color it with paint or watercolor (your favorite choice of medium) Use your ribbon as stencils and make sure to add to you canvas. I also used it to hang my canvas. Just think outside the box and have fun!

I thoroughly enjoyed this video!!  I can't believe how interesting it turns out just by throwing stuff on!  I learned a lot from watching this, (and I know it wont be quite as easy as you make it look!), but I can't wait to try this!  TFS Peggy

Wow, this is amazing!  And with such a great video tutorial, I may just give this a try….on a small canvas to begin!

I love the tulip stamp! Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it. I also like how the canvas could be hung with any side up, (as you made it the other way around in the video then the picture shows). It's an interesting piece of art, always something new to discover due to the many layers!

Love those big tulips!   How "JUMBO" are they?  It is hard to tell without the dimensions of the canvas.

I really enjoyed watching your video of you creating your mixed media canvas. The giant tulip stamp is gorgeous and I love how you used the ribbon. I kept wondering where the ribbon was on the canvas until I watched the video, ingenious!
