Fun Craft: Rainbow String Surprise Card
St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and the Irish and Irish at Heart are gearing up for a day of celebration. I have a card to show you today that features the fun and unique May Arts Burlap String available at The Ribbon Resource, and one that celebrates the “magic” of this special day.
I started by creating a landscape A2 card with white cardstock and decorated the outside with stamped and cut designs.
I added some texture to the card front by looping 8” of May Arts Black Burlap String behind the simple black and white images. I purposely kept the card front monochromatic as I had designed a surprise on the inside of the card!
After the front of the card was completed, I cut a piece of white cardstock 4” long by 2.5” wide, and scored in the middle. On one short end, I adhered a strip of strong adhesive and layered two lengths of 5” each Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple Burlap String and wrapped it around, securing the overhand on the other side with strong adhesive.
I backed and bordered the rainbow panel with black cardstock, tucked it into the inside seam of the card and adhered it with strong adhesive. I then stamped the remaining part of the sentiment under the rainbow panel.
When the recipient opens the card, the rainbow comes to life, which each of the strings tightening as the card fully opens! It is like magic! I really like that The Ribbon Resource usually offers such a wide variety of colors and hues in each line, so making a rainbow card like this is possible!
