Make Your Own Ribbon Heart Hand Warmers

Baby, it’s cold outside but we’ve got a quick and easy project to keep big and little hands warm and toasty May Arts Ribbon style!

Ribbon Heart Hand Warmers

Here’s what you’ll need:

I used a 4 inch cookie cutter to draw my heart shape on a piece of paper then cut it out to use as a pattern.  Once your heart is cut out here’s all you do:

For each hand warmer cut 4 pieces of  2 ½” ribbon; remove the wires.

Sew 2 pieces of ribbon together with a narrow seam to form the front piece of the fabric.  Repeat with 2 more pieces for the back.

Press seams open. For each hand warmer, place 2 pieces of your ribbon fabric pieces together, cut out heart shape.

Sew heart together leaving a small opening on one side for turning and filling.  Backstitch at each end of the opening so your seam doesn’t unravel.

Turn, fill with rice (I used a funnel for easy filling), then just stitch the opening closed. Repeat for 2nd heart.  Easy peasy and so cute!

For toasty warm hands, place both hearts in the microwave for 30 seconds.

These are adorable for Valentine’s gifts but you may want to put them on your stocking stuffer project list for next year too.

These are totally adorable. Could use a couple going out tonight for a 10-10-10 with my stamping buddies. It’s so cold here in NJ!
