I am going to fully admit right now, that I LOVE to thrift store shop for random items.

Today I am sharing a a thrift item that I have upcycled with a little paint and lots of pretty May Arts Ribbon. 

Unfortunately in my thrifting excitement, I forgot to take a “before” photo of my project. SO I will describe it instead. This was a plain pine wood caddy, it had a light stain on it maybe, but no varnish. So this made it easier to paint, no sanding needed!

A few coats of satin finish white paint, and a few coats of light blue paint inside the different sections and this piece was already transformed.

I covered the bottom of each section with coordinating patterned paper that I had in my stash.

Project Recipe:

• 1.5″ Frayed Thread Ribbon– Seafoam; 1.5 yards
• Burlap String– Ivory – 12 yards
• DecoArt Multi Surface Satin- Eggshell White Paint
• DecoArt Patio Paint- Coastal Blue
• Patterned Paper
• Buttons
• Tulle Flower
• Glue Gun

By simply adding one length of the Frayed Thread Ribbon and then wrapping the Burlap String multiple times around the base of the caddy, I find it gives it a beachy sort of feel. I then simply wrapped the handle with the Burlap String, a little dab of hot glue here and there, and that ribbon and string is there to stay.

Then I added a few embellishments to cover up where the ribbon meets, and there you have it.

My caddy was then ready to be filled with just a few of my favorite things!
